iVillage Woman of the Week: Taylor Swift

Taylor-swift-woman-weekeach week, we pick one woman who's done something to make us proud. This week we're loving Taylor Swift for being the ultimate example of gratitude and graciousness toward her many fans.
Unlike other 20-year-old celebs (Yep! Talkin' about you, crankypants Kristen Stewart!) who sulk about the burdens that come with fame, Swift just might be one of the friendliest, most down-to-earth international superstars out there right now. After selling more than 10 million albums, she shows a true appreciation for her ever-growing fan base. Sure, we hear her thank fans all the time in acceptance speeches, concerts and interviews -- but as it turns out, the 20-year-old singer really means it. This week, she announced that on June 13 at the CMA Music Festival in Nashville, she'll host a 13-hour meet-and-greet with the public which includes -- get this -- a live acoustic performance. Now that’s dedication.
The blond songstress always seems to have her audience on her mind, telling CMT News that her goal is “to never write songs that my fans can’t relate to.” And when it comes to her Nashville public, she opened her wallet last month to the tune of $500,000 in order to donate relief aid to the region after the recent deadly floods in Music City, USA.
We applaud Swift for her generous attitude toward the fans that supported her on her ascent to country stardom. We're gonna let you finish, Taylor; this is one honor Kanye West can’t usurp from you.
