A Mixed Beauty Review: Covergirl Clean Press Powder

Besides trying to control my T-zone’s oil production on my face in my skin care routine (check out my dish on Neutrogena’s Clear Pore) I also wanted something I use make up wise.  I know the oil isn’t going to go away, but at least I can keep it at bay.  My foundation alone wasn’t cutting it and I find that halfway through the day,  I still had good coverage but a shiny nose and chin.  So on yet another trip to my drugstore of choice, I picked up Covergirl’s Clean Press Powder with Oil Control. The press powder is formulated to make your pores less visible, while controlling oil giving your skin a soft matte finish that is meant to last all day.  The oil control formula is also fragrance and oil free.

I’ve been using it for a few weeks now and I love the coverage it gives me!  I use it along with my tinted moisturizer and the color (Tawny) blends in perfectly!  I love the natural matte finish it gives skin.  I don’t have a “cake face”, which is a definite no-no for me! I find that it lasts most of the day, requiring only a slight touch up towards the end of the day. I’m also glad it’s a pressed powder, leaving less room for a mess (I’m dangerous with loose powder sometimes!) and my husband can definitely appreciate that!

Now in my title I called this a mixed review because although I love the powder itself, the case is my biggest pet peeve. It’s hard to open! Sometimes it takes me a few minutes to get it open and it can be a pain, especially if I’ m in a hurry. If the powder came in a better-to-open compact, I would give this powder two thumbs up instead of one.

Do any of you ladies use Covergirl’s Pressed Powder?  What do you think of it?  Any other powders you can recommend for those with oil issues?
