New scented and color-changing nail polishes

Perfect FormulaI'm admittedly a nail polish junkie. I've been hooked ever since I was about six when my mom first painted my nails hot pink on vacation one summer. From Tinkerbell's BOPO (brush-on, peel-off) and Hard Candy's pastels, to Essie's Ballet Slippers and Chanel's trendy Vamp and Jade, I've collected hundreds of bottles of nail polish over the years. When I enter a drugstore I make a beeline to the nail aisle to see if there's anything new for me to sample. Luckily, as a beauty editor, I have new polishes mailed to me so I can try out the latest and greatest. And boy have there been some polish evolutions this year.

Many brands are trying to come up with a new concept for recession-proof nail polish this year. You may have seen my story about the awesome innovations behind CND's Shellac polish, which lasts 14 days. Perfect Formula's new "In the Mood" collection boasts six color-changing shades. Remember the hyper-color shirts of our youths? Like those tees, these polishes are temperature-sensitive. When your hands are cool, they resemble the color in the bottle, and hen they're warm, nails turn a different or lighter shade. My favorite of the bunch is Devious, a purple color that turns a candy pink with heat. It is so fun seeing your nails change constantly throughout the day! They definitely will put a smile on your face and become the topic of conversation.

RevlonNot to be outdone, Revlon has launched a new limited collection of scented nail polishes called "Scent of Summer." They came out with a similar line last year called "Fruitful Temptation," but every time I tried to find them they were out of stock. So this week I scooped up Peach Smoothie, a pale shade with gold shimmer perfect for summer. The formula was a bit thin, but three coats later my nails looks beautiful and as soon as they were dry they smelled like peaches! Mmm! I don't know how good it is to smell your nails all day, but I suppose it can't be worse than using scented Mr. Sketch markers. I'm definitely going to buy some more shades, since Grape Icy and Ocean Breeze have already caught my eye (though the scens of Bubble Gum, Cotton Candy, and Orange Pop sound equally enticing). TheNailphile.com tested every shade so click here to see the rest in action, or hit up your local drugstore to try one yourself.
